THE SHROPSHIRE JAPANESE HEAD SPA – based in Shawbirch, Telford
Originating in Japan, head spa treatments include a scalp massage using pressure points to promote increased blood circulation to the scalp, along with deep conditioning, aromatherapy, hot towel/steam treatments and a luxurious waterfall shower.
The Head Spa session promotes hair growth, prevents hair loss, and maintains optimal scalp health by combining deep cleansing, nutrient-rich conditioning, and blood flow stimulation.
This holistic approach ensures that each follicle is nurtured, paving the way for stronger, more resilient hair growth.
During your head spa treatment, our specialist therapists will use essential oils, scalp scrubs, and deep conditioning masks to exfoliate the scalp, remove excess oils and debris, and hydrate the hair follicles. You can also expect a vigorous scalp massage to alleviate tension, increase stimulation, and relax the scalp muscles.
The Head Spa is suitable for all skin and hair types including if you have had cancer, are pregnant, have PCOS or are wanting to relieve anxiety. Ask our specialists today how we can help you.

JAPANESE HEAD SPA
The Process
Your Head Spa Experience
1. Consultation & Scalp Analysis
Your treatment begins with a microscopic scalp analysis and consultation. This is your opportunity to discuss your scalp and hair concerns, desired outcomes, and any optional extras you may have added to your experience.
⸻
2. Signature Hair Blend Application
Your tailored signature hair blend is applied to the scalp and hair while dry. This carefully selected blend is designed to stimulate the scalp, nourish the hair and prepare it for the treatment ahead.
⸻
3. Head Massage
The blend is gently massaged into the scalp to encourage blood flow, promote relaxation, and support healthy follicle activity.
⸻
4. Steam-Infused Scalp Therapy
We use a gentle steam method that allows warmth and moisture to naturally surround the scalp. This helps open the follicles and enhances absorption of the signature hair blend, maximising treatment benefits while maintaining comfort and relaxation.
⸻
5. Waterfall Rinse
A soothing waterfall shower is slowly lowered over the scalp and hair, gently rinsing through excess oil while maintaining deep relaxation.
⸻
6. Tailored Shampoo Cleanse
A shampoo is selected specifically for your hair and scalp condition to gently cleanse, purify, and rebalance from root to ends.
⸻
7. Cleansing Scalp Massage
The shampoo is worked into the scalp with a relaxing massage designed to stimulate circulation, reduce stress, and deeply cleanse the scalp.
⸻
8. Hair & Scalp Conditioning Mask
A customised conditioning mask is applied to nourish and hydrate the hair while soothing the scalp. This step supports hair bond repair, restores moisture, improves strength, and enhances natural shine.
⸻
9. Conditioning Massage & Absorption
A gentle massage helps the conditioning mask absorb more effectively, allowing strengthening and hydrating ingredients to penetrate the hair and scalp.
At this stage, you may choose to finish your treatment with the mask left in (to be rinsed at home up to 12 hours later), or continue with the steps below.
⸻
10. Oxygen Therapy (Optional)
Oxygen Therapy helps rebalance the scalp, support circulation, and create an optimal environment for healthy hair growth. It also refreshes the skin, offering benefits for both scalp and complexion.
⸻
11. Final Water Cleanse
A light rinse removes any remaining product, leaving the hair and scalp feeling clean, refreshed, and residue-free.
⸻
12. Towel Dry & Finish
While still lying comfortably, your hair is gently towel-dried to remove excess moisture and a leave in, heat defence and humidity protection will be applied.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer a full consultation?
Yes. Every Japanese Head Spa treatment begins with a full consultation. This allows us to assess your scalp and hair condition, discuss any concerns or goals, review your lifestyle and product use, and ensure the treatment is completely tailored to you. Please ensure your consultation form is completed fully and accurately before your appointment.
How long does your Japanese Head Spa treatment usually last?
Treatment times vary depending on the service booked, but most Japanese Head Spa treatments last between 45 and 90 minutes. Your booking confirmation will state the exact duration.
I can’t get an appointment because there is no availability — what can I do?
Our Japanese Head Spa appointments are in high demand. If you can’t see availability, please keep checking as cancellations do occur. We also recommend booking in advance where possible. Availability is released regularly.
Is your Japanese Head Spa suitable for all hair types?
Yes. Japanese Head Spa treatments are suitable for all hair types, including straight, wavy, curly, coily, fine, thick, natural, coloured, and chemically treated hair. Products and techniques are adjusted to suit your individual needs.
Will the treatment damage my hair?
No. When performed correctly, Japanese Head Spa treatments are non-damaging. The focus is on scalp health, gentle cleansing, hydration, and relaxation. We do not use harsh techniques or aggressive manipulation.
Can I have a Japanese Head Spa if I am bald?
Yes. Japanese Head Spa treatments are excellent for bald or shaved scalps. The treatment focuses on scalp health, circulation, exfoliation, hydration, and relaxation, not hair length.
Do I need to prepare my hair in any specific way before the treatment?
No special preparation is required. Please arrive with your hair dry and free from excessive styling products where possible. Avoid applying oils or heavy treatments on the day of your appointment unless advised otherwise.
Will the treatment address specific scalp issues like dandruff or dryness?
Yes. Japanese Head Spa treatments can help improve dandruff, dryness, oil imbalance, product build-up, itchiness, and sensitivity. While results vary, many clients notice visible and physical improvements after treatment.
Is the treatment suitable for pregnant women or individuals with certain medical conditions?
In most cases, yes — however, pregnancy and medical conditions must be disclosed during consultation. Certain products, massage techniques, or treatment elements may need to be adapted or avoided. When in doubt, please seek medical advice before booking.
Can I have a head spa if I have or have had cancer?
Possibly, but medical clearance is essential. If you are currently undergoing cancer treatment or have recently completed treatment, we require written approval from your GP, consultant, or oncology team before proceeding. Certain treatments, products, or techniques may not be suitable, and client safety is always our priority.
Will the treatment interfere with my hair colour or chemical treatments?
Japanese Head Spa treatments are generally safe for coloured or chemically treated hair. However, for very fresh colour or chemical services, we recommend allowing a short settling period before your head spa. Please inform us of recent treatments so we can advise accordingly.
Is your Japanese Head Spa suitable for people with hair extensions?
This depends on the type of extensions. Some extension methods may limit parts of the treatment. Please contact us before booking so we can advise whether the treatment is suitable or needs modifying.
Will the treatment help with hair growth?
Japanese Head Spa treatments support optimal scalp conditions, which are essential for healthy hair growth. Improved circulation, reduced build-up, and balanced scalp health may support growth, but results vary and cannot be guaranteed.
Do you use home remedies?
No. We use professional-grade products specifically formulated for scalp and hair health. We do not use DIY or home remedies during treatments.
Do you offer customisable treatments based on individual needs?
Yes. Every Japanese Head Spa treatment is tailored based on your consultation, scalp condition, hair type, and personal concerns.
What can I expect after the treatment?
Most clients feel deeply relaxed, with a refreshed scalp and softer, cleaner hair. You may also notice improved scalp comfort and shine. It’s normal to feel very relaxed or sleepy afterwards.
What is Oxygen Therapy and how does it help my scalp?
Oxygen therapy balances the skin’s pH level and helps prepare the “soil” for the new hair bulbs. It also helps to refresh and revitalise the scalp, supporting circulation and scalp balance.
Can I wear makeup or styling products after the treatment?
Yes. However, we recommend keeping hair products minimal immediately after your treatment to allow your scalp to fully benefit. Makeup is completely fine.
How often should I get a Japanese Head Spa treatment?
As often as you like. Many clients book every 3-6 months for relaxation. For maintenance and wellbeing, many clients book every 4–6 weeks. For specific scalp concerns, more frequent treatments may be recommended initially.
Do you offer Gift Vouchers?
Yes. Gift vouchers are available and make a perfect gift for relaxation, wellbeing, and self-care. Please either click below to purchase online or pop in and see us to buy a physical voucher.
